The D Word

Dating...

Seriously?
What's the deal with dating?
You're happy.
You're sad.
You want them you.
You don't.
I just don't get it.
I didn't sign up to be a life long dater.
They ask you out.
They don't.
They call.
They don't.
It's up.
It's down.
They like you.
You don't like them.
You like them.
They don't like you.
Attractive.
Ugly.
Ambitious.
Lazy.
Sometimes I just want to give up.
Hope.
Hope.
Hope.
We long to have someone to be with.
To love to cherish.
To admire.
To praise.
To snuggle with.
It's our innate desire to be with someone.
To experience the good, the bad and the ugly.
A witness of your life.
Why is complicated?
Why is it hard?
Is it timing?
Is it me?
Hope.
Hope.
Hope.
Believe.
Believe.
Believe.
Pray.
Pray.
Pray.
Sometimes it's easier to be single.
Don't Quit.
Hope. Believe. Pray.

I once heard it put this way:
"Don't stop, believin'...hold on to that feeling..."

Don't stop believing lady--I still believe in you! Just remember--it's not necessarily the timing factor or any of that--but it's what is best for you. It's a time to become you!

I think us lovely women who have had the chance to be single for a long time will really appreciate that "hunka hunka burnin love" you'll get when he finally makes his entrance. You will have such a greater understanding of that "true love" thing. I hope :)

Hold on though--it's a brief moment. It'll be over before you know it. Then you'll say--remember when I was single...

In the meantime--here's my antidote to this singleness stuff...be the best you can be (I know--I stole it from the Army...sorta). Live life (like you have been) and keep on going strong. You are amazing--don't you ever forget it :)

When that right guy comes around HE will know it because YOU are such an amazing woman!

The only thing that comes to mind is this...

Girls are taught a lot of stuff growing up. If a guy punches you he likes you. Never try to trim your own bangs and someday you will meet a wonderful guy and get your very own happy ending. Every movie we see, every story we're told, implores us to wait for it, the third act twist, the unexpected declaration of love, the exception to the rule. But sometimes we're so focused on finding our happy ending we don't learn how to read the signs. How to tell from the ones who want us and the ones who don't, the ones who will stay and the ones who will leave. And maybe a happy ending doesn't include a guy, maybe it's you, on your own, picking up the pieces and starting over, freeing yourself up for something better in the future. Maybe the happy ending is... just moving on. Or maybe the happy ending is this...knowing that through all the un-returned phone calls and broken-hearts, through the blunders and misread signals, through all the pain and embarrassment you never ever gave up hope.

I love love love that quote and sometimes it's the only thought that gets me through.

You'll get there! Enjoy the free time though :) you have plenty of time to be with someone. It's not that you can put it on pause when you found someone, so that you can go do your thing.
Want to borrow mine for a while? I'll go do things all alone then for a while. He nuts, weird, crazy, openminded, a worker, funny, doesn't understand women or actually hardly anyone, likes to be on his own, hates kissing, ... and he loves me for my weird and difficult self. I don't really know what I'm saying here :) but really, take your time. He'll come along, and then you might think he came too soon. Even though you'll love him tons. Nothing is easy, but everything can be fun.

About Me

Life as it for Tiffany Finley is quite the revolving door, one activity ends and I’m back on the rebound, looking for something to spice it up! Live it up, I tell you! Although, those who know me well, know my limits of “living it up!” A whirlwind of terrible singing, dancing, playful banter, blunt responses, sweet and endearing but firm and serious remarks to children, speaking/slaughtering accents that I’ve spun from memory, are a just a few of my favorite things….I delight in waking to the sunrise, driving to an incredible place of work, where I am able to express my true self regularly! My students call me "Crazy. ” This is where the song and dance comes into play, whether we are learning about adjectives or writing our names on our papers, I’ve got a song and cheer for it all! I’m passionate about traveling and walking down narrow pathways. In my spare time, I enjoy taking walks in the park…I’ve been known to disappear in the dark of the night, only to be found on the swings. I also love to organize and re-organize, I can never quite get things right. I thoroughly enjoy people watching.
